about me
SALENIE, a San Francisco native, is a genre-bending DJ known for blending R&B, Hip Hop, Soul, Disco, House, Bass, and Trap. She began her DJ career spinning at local bars and lounges before making her way into the nightclub scene. A few years later, she won her first DJ battle, secured her first sponsorship with BPM Music, and embarked on a sold-out U.S. and Canada tour alongside notable Bay Area artists Ashley Mehta, Thuy, and P-Lo.
Salenie has since completed three tours with Ashley Mehta and has opened for influential electronic artists such as ODESZA, Austin Millz, and Snakehips. Most recently, she supported two-time Grammy Award-winning artist Kehlani, performing during Super Bowl LX alongside Bay Area harpist GEO as part of their collaborative project “Someone’s Daughter.”
She has also performed at major music festivals, sharing stages with artists like Gryffin, Said the Sky, Louis the Child, Madeon, NGHTMRE, and DJ Diesel.
As she continues carving out her place in the electronic music scene, Salenie remains passionate about bridging genres and uniting diverse crowds through her curated sound.
my story
SALENIE was introduced to old-school hip hop and turntablism through The DJ Project, a public arts youth initiative in San Francisco. Under the mentorship of hip hop pioneer DJ Quest, she adopted the Reverse-style AKA “Hamster Style” of mixing and began spinning at school events, SF Carnaval, and Mission block parties. After moving to Los Angeles for college, she quickly became the go-to DJ for campus-wide events and threw bi-weekly parties at UCLA to help cover living expenses. The diverse, international crowd at these events expanded her music taste, pushing her to blend a wide range of genres within her sets.
After graduating midst-pandemic and returning to San Francisco, Salenie stepped away from DJing for a few years. It wasn’t until the Bay Area’s creative scene came back to life that she found herself part of a supportive community that reignited her passion. Today, she remains dedicated to giving back to the community that continues to inspire her journey.
